Jakarta-MONGABAY INDONESIA. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has approved the 2018-2027 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPT) of the national power utility, PT PLN (Persero).
In this plan, PT PLN has lowered the total power generation development plan of 78,000 megawatts to 56,024 megawatts, with only 5,000 megawatts of coal-fired facilities slashed in in Java, including the expansion of PLTU Cilacap and Indramayu. While renewable energy generating capacity slashed 14.912 megawatts from previous plan of 21.500 megawatts. Hydro power plant reduced by 1,000 megawatts.
Responding to this plan, Executive Director of Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) Fabby Tumiwa said reduction the capacity of renewable energy power plant due to declining of projected demand for electricity is not appropriate.
