Request for Proposal (RFP) – Consultancy Services for Hydrogen Supply Chain and Techno-Economic Study

Background

Indonesia has a renewable energy potential of 333 GW, which offers significant opportunities not only for electricity generation but also for green hydrogen production. Green hydrogen has a strategic role in supporting the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors, strengthening national energy security, and facilitating the integration of renewable energy by functioning as a flexible load and energy storage medium. In addition, green hydrogen also opens up opportunities to expand access to clean energy in remote areas.

An important factor in the development of a hydrogen economy is the readiness of the hydrogen supply chain. Given the diverse potential for hydrogen utilization, it is critical to evaluate the current condition and future prospects of the hydrogen ecosystem in Indonesia. This evaluation includes identifying existing stakeholders, available production technologies, and supply chain readiness.

Although various studies have analyzed the technical and economic aspects of hydrogen production, there are still few studies that comprehensively discuss the entire value chain, including distribution and storage, which have a major impact on the cost competitiveness of hydrogen products. With increasing global momentum and the development of domestic initiatives through memorandums of understanding and collaboration, it is imperative to conduct a comprehensive technical and economic study that covers the entire hydrogen supply chain.

To address these needs, IESR invites competent experts to support the supply chain analysis and techno-economic study of hydrogen and its derivatives in Indonesia, in order to provide applicable recommendations and insights in accelerating cost reductions and increasing the competitiveness of the green hydrogen market.
