Southeast Asia Energy Transition Project Coordinator

Agung Marsallindo is the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Project Coordinator at the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR). Prior to joining IESR, he worked in the Global Innovation Hub Division at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and also as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies (ISEP). These experiences have equipped Agung with research, advocacy, project management, and monitoring-evaluation skills in energy transition, energy policy, and climate change through internationally coordinating projects and working with various government-level institutions.

His background in Political Science gives Agung a strong analytical and interdisciplinary thinking in Political and Policy perspective on energy transition. He holds a Bachelor of Political Science (Political Communication Specialization) from Andalas University and a Master of Arts in Politics and Governance (Natural Resources Governance Specialization) from Gadjah Mada University. Agung’s interest in these topics prompted him to write his latest research, “The Politics of Technocracy: Indonesia’s Electricity Energy Transition” which reveals the discourse of energy policy governance in Indonesia through the lens of the Three Dimensions of Power.

In his spare time, Agung enjoys reading books and doing various sports activities such as badminton, swimming, and running.
