Thorough decarbonization of the energy sector is critical to achieving the zero-emission targets in line with the Paris Agreement. One of the largest sources of emissions is from the power generation sector, especially coal power plants. According to the IESR study, there are two policies to reduce emissions from coal-fired power plants in accordance with the Paris agreement, namely to conduct a moratorium on coal power plants and retire the power plant from its usual life of 30 years to 20 years.
