Just Transition Program
From a High-Emission Economy to a Low-Emission Economy
The Just Transition Program aims to ensure the transition from a high-emission economy dependent on the extractive sector to a low-emission economy through a just approach. This approach considers four types of justice: procedural justice, distributive justice, restorative justice, and retributive justice.
Specifically, the program focuses on promoting the planning and implementation of a just transition at the national and subnational levels. This is done through three main channels:
1) research on the impacts, challenges, and opportunities of a just energy transition;
2) development of a just transition roadmap or guide;
3) ongoing communication with various stakeholders, including government, the private sector, and civil society.
The program aims to ensure the transition from a high-emission economy dependent on the extractive sector to a low-emission economy through a just approach.
