Sustainable Energy Transition in Indonesia Project Officer
Muhammad Faisal Ain Lubis, also known as Faisal, works as a staff in Sustainable Energy Transition Indonesia Project at IESR. He was part of the Process System Engineering UGM Research Group with a focus on research related to Microalgae & Bioresources, Hydrogen, and Waste to Energy (WtE). Where the focus of his research is on Waste to Energy from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in Landfills.
Other research experiences outside of the research group are joint research on the potential of Municipal Sewage Sludge (MSS) into biogas at the Wastewater Treatment Plant with one of the companies in Medan. Research on the concept and potential of Direct Air Capture (DAC) as one of the carbon capture efforts in urban buildings and the reuse of carbon as Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) material to support the manufacture of fertilizers as an effort that encourages the implementation of Nature Based Solution (NBS) in urban areas, as well as several other project experiences related to Waste to Energy such as the manufacture of biogas installations and early stage feasibility studies & RDF Plant designs in East Java. His professional experience working in the company PT SMART Tbk (Sinarmas Agro Resources & Technology) for the position of assistant manager in the Quality Control section and also briefly became a lecturer for the Lombok Institute of Technology (LIT) teaching Basic System Modeling courses, especially for Energy System Modeling.
He has entrepreneurial experience by establishing Micro X Indonesia startup under PT Cipta Karya Energi Pancapersada which is engaged in circular economy and won several national competitions Battle of Minds from British America Tobacco, Energy Transition Innovation Challenge from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and New Energy Nexus and Climate Innovation League from Ecoxyztem as well as several other regional, national and global championships. He has freelancing experience as a Business Consultant, especially related to Sustainable Business and circular economy concepts. He graduated from Gadjah Mada University in System Engineering with a concentration in New & Renewable Energy.
Growing up and living in several cities in Indonesia made him have a hobby of traveling to various regions, and also several sports such as running and swimming. He also enjoys watching fiction movies and reading several fiction novels.
