Insights on energy transition news in the electricity sector in Indonesia from 2020- 2022

This collaborative report between IESR and CASE is based on a media monitoring analysis of more than 11,000 news stories from 1,167 media outlets that published energy transition news from 2020–2022. The data extraction process was carried out using the following keywords: 1) Coal Early Retirement; 2) Electricity; 3) Energy Transition; 4) Equitable Energy Transition In analyzing the data, IESR and CASE Indonesia limited the period to January 1, 2020, through December 31, 2022, using the big data monitoring engine Newstensity. IESR and CASE recognize the important role of the media in the policy-making process through the construction of narratives and messages, so this report provides an overview of how and to what extent news dissemination on energy transition issues is portrayed and received by the media.
