Public Webinar Road to IETD 2025: “Exploring the Global and National Progress of Green Hydrogen”

Background

Indonesia has demonstrated a strong commitment to utilizing hydrogen as an accelerator for the energy transition by issuing the National Hydrogen Strategy (SHN) in 2023 and the National Hydrogen and Ammonia Roadmap (RHAN) in 2025. These documents demonstrate the government’s vision, aligned with the ambitious hydrogen strategies launched by other developed countries. This demonstrates that the development of a hydrogen ecosystem is not just a trend, but part of a global strategic agenda for energy security and sustainability.

With technological advancements, the use of renewable energy is increasingly expanding across a wider range of sectors. However, some sectors, such as transportation and industry, face challenges in fully decarbonizing through electrification. Industries like steel, cement, and chemicals require very high temperatures or serve as raw materials, and their processes still rely on coal or natural gas, which emit carbon dioxide. These limitations create a need for clean and efficient alternative energy solutions. This is where green hydrogen can come in. Hydrogen offers a way to decarbonize these strategic sectors by replacing fossil fuels. This webinar will thoroughly explore how green hydrogen can be utilized to address decarbonization challenges, in line with Indonesia’s commitments in the National Hydrogen and Ammonia Roadmap (RHAN).

The 8th Indonesia Energy Transition Dialogue (IETD), to be held from October 6-8, 2025, is an annual event organized by ICEF and IESR. It serves as a national platform for various stakeholders to address energy transition issues in Indonesia. The event will highlight energy transition themes and concepts, facilitate discussions and formulate national strategies, and encourage multi-stakeholder participation to support collaborators and the active participation of all citizens in achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. As part of a series of events leading up to the 8th IETD, this event serves as a platform to bridge the information gap, bring together stakeholders, and enhance strategic public insight to collaborate in developing clean energy in Indonesia.

Objective

  1. Raise public awareness about the role of green hydrogen as a clean energy solution for the future.
  2. Identify business opportunities, challenges, and relevant policy frameworks for green hydrogen development in Indonesia.
  3. Understand case studies and best practices from other countries that have successfully implemented green hydrogen.
  4. Gain insight into global market trends and green hydrogen technology from experts.
