Arief Rosadi

Climate and Energy Diplomacy Program Manager

As the Climate and Energy Policy Program Manager at IESR, Arief is responsible for planning and implementing climate diplomacy activities in the Southeast Asia Region. He has a keen interest and extensive experience in climate diplomacy which he has pioneered since his university days.
 
Prior to his career at IESR, Arief worked as a Policy and Technical Executive at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in collaboration with GIZ under the Climate Governance Project for 2 years and 3 months. During his time in government, he provided technical, administrative, and substance support to the Indonesian Secretariat of the National Focal Point (NFP) to the UNFCCC. This included being involved in drafting Indonesia’s Submissions and Position Papers for the 2019 Bonn Climate Change Conference (Germany), COP-25 (Madrid, Spain), designing Indonesia’s Position Paper matrix for COP-26 in (Glasgow, UK), as well as being involved in other multilateral and regional processes related to climate change such as Asean Working Group on Climate Change (AWGCC), The Cartagena Dialogue, and G-77.
 
Arief received professional training on climate negotiations in Bangkok in 2020, “The ASEAN Negotiators’ Group on Agriculture (ANGA) Meeting and UNFCCC Negotiations Training” organized by the ASEAN Climate Resilience Network.
 
Before entering the world of practitioners, Arief was a Lecturer Assistant for 3 years at Padjadjaran University (Bandung) as well as an Advisor to Al-Ghifari University (Bandung) in developing capacity building programs related to climate change and providing substance assistance in designing short diplomatic courses on G-20 Environmental Ministerial Meeting-Climate Sustainability Working Group (CSWG).
 
He earned his Bachelor and Master degrees in International Relations at Padjadjaran University.
