Program Officer Industrial Decarbonisation

Dena Amani Utami, commonly known as Dena, is currently a Program Officer for Industrial Decarbonisation at the Institute for Essential Service Reform (IESR). In her role, she supports the implementation of low-carbon energy transition strategies in the industrial sector through policy analysis, green policy database development, and tracking progress in sustainable energy regulations. She also collaborates with stakeholders, including government agencies, financial institutions, and research organizations, to ensure successful program execution.

Before joining IESR, Dena worked at a leading global energy company, where she managed high-value projects focused on resource optimization and logistics management. Her efforts contributed to enhanced operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Dena holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment from University College London (UCL), where she specialized in sustainable energy policies, climate economics, and corporate sustainability practices. During her studies, she explored global frameworks such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), focusing on assessing climate risks and fostering sustainable business practices. Her research delved into energy transitions, analyzing the economic impacts of renewable energy, fossil fuels, and emerging technologies in driving sustainable development.

Outside of work, Dena enjoys traveling and exploring diverse cuisines, which offer her fresh perspectives and cultural insights. She is also an avid reader of novels, particularly those centred on adventure and exploration, which inspire her creative thinking and passion for discovery.
