Introduction

RE100 is a global initiative dedicated to promoting the use of renewable energy within large corporations. It brings together hundreds of influential companies committed to sourcing 100% of their electricity from renewable sources. Led by the Climate Group, RE100 aims to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon energy grid on a global scale.

The initiative’s impact is substantial. Companies within the commercial and industrial sectors, which consume roughly half of the world’s electricity, are represented within RE100. These members operate across diverse industries and geographic locations, from technology giants to manufacturing powerhouses. Collectively, they consume more electricity than entire nations, underscoring the initiative’s potential to drive significant change.

To support its members, RE100 engages in policy advocacy worldwide, focusing particularly on regions with limited access to renewable energy. The organization collaborates with policymakers to create an environment conducive to corporate renewable energy sourcing and to expedite the global shift towards renewable electricity.

About Program RE100

Fossil fuels accounted for 78% of installed capacity in Indonesia in 2021. Our mission is to accelerate the shift to a zero-carbon grid at scale, so RE100 is expanding its policy advocacy activities to new priority regions – including Indonesia.

In 2022, RE100 team members spent several weeks in Indonesia to understand how and where RE100’s unique value proposition can best be used to accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia. With 121 members reporting operations in Indonesia, we are looking for our first member to be headquartered in Indonesia.

With its growing presence in Asia-Pacific, RE100 is now expanding its efforts in Indonesia. Given the country’s sizable energy consumption and potential for renewable energy development, Indonesia is a strategic focus for the initiative. RE100 is actively seeking Indonesia-based companies to join and contribute to a sustainable energy future.
