[Webinar] Mobilizing Clean Energy Finance and Investment to Support Energy Transition: Insight from OECD, the Philippines, and Indonesia

Mobilizing Clean Energy Finance and Investment to Support Energy Transition: Insight from OECD, the Philippines, and Indonesia

Keywords: Green finance, Green investment, Financiers’ perspectives, Clean energy, Energy transition, OECD, Philippines, Indonesia

The eight keywords above become the subject of IESR’s third session on the energy transition sharing series. Mobilizing finance for the clean energy transition in Southeast Asia (SEA) region is critical in meeting the fast-growing energy demand while pursuing the greenhouse gasses emission reduction target. However, challenges in financing clean energy projects in these countries still exist despite the declining cost of clean energy technologies. Some literature (ASEAN Centre for Energy and ADB Institute) listed the common key barriers for clean energy project development across the region. Among the challenges are high financing cost, limited access to funding, limited investment pipeline, lack of data & analytical ability.

Therefore, there are at least three follow-up questions to further discuss in this episode: What is the status and progress of clean energy finance and investment in these countries? Is the ideal/supportive policy framework for finance and investment in clean energy already identified? What are the common challenges and best practices in mobilizing clean energy finance and investment? How to scale up the clean energy finance and investment in the SEA region?
